As a spouse, you can sign documents using your account or you can sign documents from your husband's/wife's TaxCaddy account.

TaxCaddy.com on PC, Mac or tablet
As a spouse, this method allows you to sign documents from your husband/wife's TaxCaddy account without creating your own account.
As a spouse, follow these steps to sign a document from your husband/wife's TaxCaddy account:

Log in to TaxCaddy.com.

On the Overview screen, you will see a Task List on the left, click the Sign request to sign a document(s).
- When viewing all tax returns, a badge to the left of each upload will indicate which tax return the uploaded document belongs to.
The All tax return option will be selected by default. With All selected, you will see all documents uploaded by you or your tax professional, regardless of the tax return type. If you'd like to see pending requests for a specific tax return profile, select it from the TAX RETURN drop-down menu. -
Under To Sign, click the document you want to sign.
Documents that require a spouse's signature have Sign with Spouse as the subheader. E-File Authorization subheader will not include "with Spouse" as a subheader. You must open the document to see if it requires spouse signature.

You can click LET MY SPOUSE SIGN to sign documents from your spouse's user account.
You may need to enter your phone number if this is your first time signing a document and your husband/wife has not provided your phone number after signing the document. You must enter a different phone number than your husband/wife.
The Spouse - Enter Phone Number dialog box only appears if you do not have a TaxCaddy account and this is your first time entering your information as a spouse user.
If you already have a TaxCaddy account then make sure you are connected to your husband/wife as a spouse user and not as an additional user.

If you have a verified phone number then the verification code will be sent to your phone. Enter the verification code then click Submit.
Your husband/wife can add your phone number once they finish signing the document.

Enter your first name. If the document has fillable fields, select the check box to confirm you have verified those fields and that you will no longer be able to edit them. Click Submit.
- Knowledge-based Authentication dialog box appears if you are required to verify your identity at the time of signing the document. Enter the required information then click Submit.
If the document requires spouse's signature, your spouse will be required to sign the document by verifying their identity using their own TaxCaddy account or verify using the taxpayer's account.
If either the taxpayer or spouse fails the identity verification, both will be required to sign the document manually.
If we can’t locate an identity record associated with your information (in this case, you will see the error message below), you should download the document and sign it manually.

A knowledge-based authentication question appears. Select the correct answer then click Next. Repeat this step until you have answered all four knowledge-based authentication questions.
You are allowed three attempts to correctly answer a set of four questions, after which the document is moved to Uploaded Tax Documents, that status is updated to
and you must download the document and sign it manually.

Once TaxCaddy confirms you signed the document, click Done.
iOS mobile app
As a spouse, follow these steps to sign a document from your husband/wife's iOS mobile phone:

Log in to the TaxCaddy mobile app.

In the task list, tap the request to sign documents.
- Tap the Tax Return drop-down menu to select the tax return profile you are fulfilling a request for. Alternatively, you can tap SELECT TAX RETURN to select a tax return profile.
Select your 1041 tax return profile from the Select Tax Return screen. -
Under To Sign, tap the document you want to sign.
Documents that require a spouse's signature have Signature with Spouse as the subheader. Documents that require a spouse's signature can still be signed if you don't have a spouse.
If the document uploaded by your tax professional is password protected then you will be requested to enter the password. Contact your tax professional if you do not have the password.

The document opens in the Document viewer. If the document has fillable forms, tap on a field and enter data. As soon as you tap out of the field, the document will automatically save your data.
You can message your tax professional regarding this document using the message panel on the right.

Tap the Sign icon
on the lower right side to open the signature menu.

You can click Let My Spouse Sign to sign documents as a spouse from your husband/wife's user account.

You may need to enter your phone number if this is your first time signing a document and your husband/wife has not provided your phone number after signing the document.

Sign documents using my account
TaxCaddy.com on PC, Mac or tablet
