This article explains how to create your account and log in for the first time. If you've already logged in to TaxCaddy and are looking for information on how to log in again, click here.
If your spouse has already signed up with TaxCaddy, have your spouse invite you through Settings and use the link you're sent to sign up.

TaxCaddy.com on PC, Mac, or tablet
Sign Up
Follow these steps to create a new account on TaxCaddy.com on your PC, Mac, or tablet.
TaxCaddy works best on Google Chrome browser, but is also supported on Firefox, Edge, and Safari. TaxCaddy is not supported on Internet Explorer. When using taxcaddy.com on a tablet, we recommend viewing in landscape screen orientation for best results.
- Whitelist TaxCaddy.com with your email provider to ensure our emails reach you.

If you received a TaxCaddy email invitation from your tax professional, click Sign Up Free in that email to open the TaxCaddy enrollment screen in your browser.
If you have not been sent an invite email from a tax professional and want to sign up on your own, go to TaxCaddy.com and click Sign up free in the top right.

On the First Time Enrollment screen, enter the following information and then click Next.
- First Name
- Last Name
- Email Address
- Confirm Email Address
- Mobile Number
- Create Password
- Confirm Password
In some instances, auto-populated fields may cause the signup process to fail erroneously. Please enter fields manually.
Omit any symbols when entering your phone number (i.e. hyphens, brackets, etc).
Password field will be highlighted with a red border if the password is invalid or it does not match the Confirm Password field.
A valid password must have the following:

A number
- A special character (i.e. !@#$%^&*(){}:?><,.)
Spaces are not permitted

Both upper and lower case letters
-
8 to 72 characters
The red border will be removed once you enter a valid password.
- From the Security Question 1 list, select a question and then type your answer in the corresponding Answer 1 box. Repeat this step for Security Question 2 and then for Security Question 3. Click Next.
We use these security questions to verify your identity if you forget your password. To safeguard your TaxCaddy account, choose strong security questions with answers that someone won't be able to guess or find on your social media accounts. Your answer must be greater than 3 characters.
- Once you have read the End User License Agreement, select I accept the terms stated above and then click Create Account.
- TaxCaddy directs you to check your email for a message confirming your email address.
- In the email verification message from TaxCaddy, click Verify My Email Address.
The link sent to verify your email address expires in 30 days.

TaxCaddy confirms that your email address has been verified and you can now log in to your account. Type your email address into EMAIL and your password into PASSWORD. Then, click SIGN IN.
You can click the Unmask icon
to view your typed password. Similarly, you can click the Mask icon
to mask (i.e *****) the password field.

Alternatively, you can sign in from TaxCaddy.com on the web or TaxCaddy mobile app on Android and iOS.
Enabling Two Factor Authentication
When you log in to TaxCaddy, you'll need to provide a verification code that's sent as a text message to your mobile phone.
Follow these steps to enable Two Factor Authentication(2FA):

This screen will inform you of the two-factor authentication process. Click SETUP TWO FACTOR AUTHENTICATION.

Provide your mobile phone number, then click SEND VERIFICATION CODE. You will receive a verification code in a few minutes.

Provide the verification code that was sent to your mobile phone, and click NEXT.
The verification code expires after 5 minutes.
Setup Default Tax Year
Next, you can select a default tax year. Each time you log in, the selected default tax year will show you documents, invoices, and tax returns associated with that tax year. You can also toggle between tax years at any time irrespective of the default tax year.
To skip this step, click Skip this.
You can change the default tax year from the Settings screen.

Setup Connection Request
You will see a connection request only if a tax professional has requested permission to connect with you.
If you didn't receive a connection request, then skip to the next step. You can also accept connection request from the Overview screen when your tax professional sends you the request.

Granting permission allows the tax professional to:

Access your tax documents

Communicate with you
-
Send you letters, questionnaires, and other requests

Upload your tax return for you to review.
To accept a connection request, click ACCEPT CONNECTION.
To skip the setup process click Skip this. If you choose to skip the setup process then you can connect with your tax professional from the Overview screen.

Add Spouse
You'll now be prompted to invite your spouse to join your account.
If you do not have a spouse, click I do not have a spouse, and click CONTINUE.
You can either enter your spouse's email address and click SEND INVITATION, or click Skip this to log in without entering any spouse information. You can also add an additional user at a later time in Settings.
Click CONTINUE.
You're now logged in to TaxCaddy!
iOS mobile app
Follow these steps to create a new TaxCaddy account on your iPhone mobile phone app.

Whitelist TaxCaddy.com with your email provider to ensure our emails reach you.

Download and install the TaxCaddy mobile app.

Start the TaxCaddy mobile app and tap Sign-Up.

Type the following information then tap Next:

We recommend you create your TaxCaddy account using the same email address your tax professional has on file. If you choose to create your account using a different email address, contact support after logging in to TaxCaddy for the first time to ensure your tax professional can connect with your account.

Type a Password to use with your TaxCaddy account. Type the same password again into Confirm Password. Onscreen guidance helps you select a strong password.

Under Security Question 1, tap the Q with a question next to it and select a security question. Type your answer in the corresponding Answer 1 box. Repeat this step for Security Question 2 and Security Question 3. Then, tap Next.

Now you'll need to set up two-factor authentication. When you log in to TaxCaddy, you'll need to provide a verification code that's sent as a text message to your mobile phone. This screen will inform you of the two-factor authentication process. Tap SETUP TWO-FACTOR AUTHENTICATION.

Provide your mobile phone number, and then tap SEND VERIFICATION CODE. If you don't see the SEND VERIFICATION CODE button, tap the background to lower the number pad.

Provide the verification code that was sent to your mobile phone, and tap SUBMIT.
