Moving documents allows you to assign documents to their respective categories if they were uploaded without a category or erroneously uploaded to the wrong category. For example, if a W-2 is incorrectly uploaded as a 1099-MISC then you can move the document to make the correction.
TaxCaddy.com on PC, Mac, or tablet
Follow these steps to recategorize a document using TaxCaddy.com on your PC, Mac or tablet.
- Log in to TaxCaddy.com.

Click Documents.
- Skip this step if the TAX RETURN menu is not available. If your tax professional has enabled 1041 tax return profiles on your account for trust/estate, you can select a TAX RETURN profile to narrow down the document list, if desired.
- Click Uploaded Documents to view documents previously uploaded to your selected tax return.

Click the Menu
icon.

Click Move To.

Click the appropriate Tax Year. Select a Category from the list or, alternatively, click Show All and then type a category name into the search box.
If your tax professional has enabled 1041 tax return profiles on your account, select the correct TAX YEAR and TAX RETURN before selecting the Category.
Some categories are only applicable to 1040 tax return types and will not appear when moving a 1041 specific document and vice versa.

To use an existing subcategory for the document, click a subcategory. To add a new subcategory, click Add New.

If you're creating a new subcategory, type a new subcategory name into the box and then click the check mark to save the new subcategory.

Click the subcategory and click Done.

You will see a confirmation message after the document is moved.
iOS mobile app
Follow these steps to recategorize a document using the iPhone mobile phone app.

Sign in to the TaxCaddy mobile app then tap Documents on the tab bar.

To view documents for a particular tax year, on the top left, tap the tax year to select a different tax year.
- If your tax professional has enabled 1041 tax return profiles on your account for trust/estate, tap the Tax Return drop-down menu to select the tax return profile.

Tap Uploaded to see your uploaded documents.

Your documents are displayed under their categories. Tap the Menu
icon next to the document you want to move.

Tap Move Document.

To move the document to another tax year, tap the tax year on the top right.
